Dance Touring Partnership – Research into Audiences for Dance Summary Report

By Beth Aplin
Heather Maitland

SUMMARY

Beth Aplin and Heather Maitland carried out research on dance audiences at Dance Touring Partnership tour venues over two years and three tours. This is the summary of their findings.

1.1 Methodology

The project consisted of two years of action research. It involved working with marketers at Dance Touring Partnership member venues to research audiences across three tours, compare them with audiences for other types of event and explore the practical implications of the findings for audience development. The research focused on answering a series of questions about their audiences developed by the participating venue marketers.
