The conversations began seven years before when we asked; how do you knock down a theatre and build it back up again and grow an audience? How and what should that theatre be and how should it respond to a city not a million miles away from Middlesbrough in terms of many of the indices in terms of poverty, teenage pregnancy, and all of those things?
