Abby Bird helped make Dudley's Black Country Living Museum (BCLM) world famous thanks to social media.
The BCLM became a sensation in 2020 when they launched their Tik Tok account which today has more than half a million followers and eight million likes.
Tik Tok provided a great way to share the museum's story. Putting live costume interpretation to great use it's given us a fascinating insight into working class Victorian society - all of this with a modern twist.
Abby Bird, Audiences and Communications and Manager, Black County Living Museum (BCLM)
Abby is Communications Manager at the Black Country Living Museum and creator of BCLM’s viral TikTok account.
With nearly a decade of marketing experience under her belt, Abby is convinced that getting social media right is one of the most strategically important things a museum can do. And in order to get it right, you need to someone who really understands the internet, as well as its most avid users: Gen Z. After all, it's not just anyone who can utilise 30 second TikTok videos to reach over a half a million followers and garner more than 8 million likes.
