Tim Evans

Tim is the Deputy Director of the Archaeology Data Service (ADS), an accredited digital repository for archaeology and heritage data based within the Department of Archaeology at the University of York.

He teaches on the MSc for Digital Heritage, providing expertise on digital preservation, data management, and re-use and access. His research interests are focussed on developing technical solutions to archaeological problems, and the challenges that working digitally brings to the academic necessities of accuracy, reliability, and persistence.

This guide is designed to help leaders and managers understand why ethics should be at the forefront of their work and what issues need to be addressed. It provides practical steps and advice for building simple workflows and training for teams on how to manage and store data ethically.

Digital Heritage Hub is managed by Arts Marketing Association (AMA) in partnership with The Heritage Digital Consortium and The University of Leeds. It has received Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and National Lottery funding, distributed by The Heritage Fund as part of their Digital Skills for Heritage initiative. Digital Heritage Hub is free and answers small to medium sized heritage organisations most pressing and frequently asked digital questions.
