Museums Libraries & Archives
Formed in 1931 as the Music Library Association, the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) was a non-departmental public body with a remit to promote improvement and innovation in the area of museums, libraries and archives. Its worked across the UK, and advised the government on museum, library and archive policy in England. It was closed in May 2012 and its responsibilities given to Arts Council England and the National Archives.
