Mark Robinson is the founder of Thinking Practice, which works to build a more adaptive and more resilient arts and cultural ecology. In 2021 Future Arts Centres published his book Tactics for the Tightrope: Creative Resilience for Creative CommunitiesThe book updates and revises Mark’s influential work on resilient, community engagement and creative practice and argues for a more equitable cultural sector.

Since founding Thinking Practice in 2010, Mark has worked with over 150 organisations of all shapes and sizes – from solo artists to national development agencies. He specialises in coaching and mentoring of leaders and leadership teams, evaluation and research, organisational development, training and facilitation. Mark is a Level 7 ILM-accredited coach and mentor. He has given keynotes, talks and workshops about adaptive resilience across the UK and in Canada, Australia and South Africa.

He was previously Executive Director of Arts Council England, North East.
