Makanani Bell

Makanani Bell earned her PhD in Archaeology from the University of Southampton.

Her research focused on community archaeology and the evaluation of these methodologies in terrestrial and maritime contexts. Makanani’s research pursuits blends her background in anthropology and archaeology.

Alongside her own research, she has applied her skills to research projects in Archaeology, the Winchester School of Art, Public Policy, and the Widening Participation Unit, including Local government data analytics for culture and creativity, Southampton’s City of Culture bid, Maritime Endangered Archaeology in the Middle East and North Africa (MarEA). 

Makanani is currently a freelance researcher working across both industry and academic sectors.
